Of course you are right but when one considers the average intelligence of the American voter you can't say this is a surprise. I think we are on a death spiral down toward Fascism in its worst manifestations

I agree with you ... , yes, you are right .. at times , sometimes more than others ..;) .. tend to get emotional ... as when the 'torture' act got through .. and also these 'signing ' statements .. all this is terribly upsetting to me along with the 'whole' government scene .. as in 'K' street ...

It is deeply disturbing to me ...

if our "politics" are a reflection of our culture, then it shouldn't be surprising where our politics have evolved to... just look at the crap that is most popular on TV... why do so many people love that Jerry Springer type of garbage TV? and the new 'reality TV' garbage that glorifies the back-stabbers and glorifies dysfunctionality... throw in a little Sex Violence and Confrontation and it Sell$ bigtime . . . it's all about the money... somewhere along the line capitalism has taken over too much control of our culture AND our government... "just 'supersize-me' and I'm happy in my blissful ignorance"
