SEPARATION OF POWERS

I usually avoid commenting on current events for two reasons: First, the comments tend to be more emotional than wise, and, second, because I like to know what I'm talking about ... and the public knows very few of the real facts behind the hoopla that dominates our media. However ...

I find it amazing that so few people recognize what a farce political parties make of our government. "Denial" is hardly adequate to describe the public acceptance of the partisan excess shown when the ruling party, at the Executive Branch's behest, causes the Legislative Branch to overturn a Supreme Court ruling.

I think the passage of the "torture" act, in less than two weeks, without a modicum of public participation, is an example of how political parties have destroyed the system of checks and balances we rely on to protect us. In this case, the party in power, fearing a loss of power within a few months, abandoned any semblance of rational discourse to pass a law that bears out my assertion: "Over time, our American government has become profoundly anti-human."

Partisan Politics are Poison. We need to find a better way.
