Actually Tesla has been working with Bosch on solid state lithium batteries. They have a slew of patents together.
Not only do these batteries stabilize lithium, but they come in a much more compact size. I've heard they are not only are they aimed at the automotive applications but there will be smaller versions for battery operated tools. I was told you can charge a drill and use it for a week or drive 1,000 miles on the car batteries with no worries about spontaneous combustion.
Nothing was mentioned about LQMT, BMG's, or even Asia.
