$RDS.A Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A, RDS.B) reportedly is considering a bid for Dutch utility Eneco Group, which is active in wind, solar and biomass.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf says Shell has hired a U.S.-based bank to help arrange an offer, and that Total (NYSE:TOT) also has contacted advisors for a possible bid and mentions Engie (OTCPK:ENGIY) and others as potential suitors.
Eneco is owned by 53 local councils in the Netherlands, with more than two-thirds in favor of a sale that could be worth more than €3B ($3.6B), according to the report.
