Perhaps you have not heard of the FX Scandal where traders collude to manipulate FX trades using chat rooms and 'secret' messages.

You can be sure that is not an isolated case or limited to FX. Small Cap Biotech seems ideal for manipulation.

Me too, but then a few people here posted their thoughts on how the IPO cycle works to get WS involved w/examples of how worthless AD stocks were suddenly taking off w/massive PR/News w/examples. And then my eyes opened to the possibilities and how $$$ is what they are all about. IMO, the science must eventually prove itself (or not) but there is a lot of hype/money being generated around BIOTEC stocks/products that eventually fail b/c the science is just obviously not there. In the meantime they made money.

So, I believe it is at least possible and that WS is ONLY about money and they have not supported AVXL, who knows why...but it is possible that coordinated efforts favor hype over science, in particular if the company will not play the game.

Hedge funds collaborate? Firstly, likely illegal. No compliance department would ever sign off on it even if it were legal. Secondly, most hedge funds would eat their young. Could you imagine the day one tried to cover before the other? “Oh , didn’t I tell you? “. My suspicion is the short is on OR those 5 stroke puts were a short against the box (later is unlikely) so, at some point those shares have to be delivered to those who sold the puts. That means , inevitably a covering trade. I missed the expiry on those. Anyone know?
