I knew he didn't mean that.
The phrase is also used to distinguish merchandise or equipment used by a business or profession versus that which might be used by the typical retail buyer.....like a commercial grade washing machine or commercial grade carpet. Implying "heavy duty" and tolerant of frequent use. So I just wondered what kind of business or professional person might need commercial grade lip balm.
It wouldn't have been my choice of descriptions. But hey, I freely admit that I don't possess the marketing genius of Mr. Shaw.
