I disagree, not about my silly admission specifically, but about the concept in general. I believe that anybody who claims to have knowledge of information is responsible for making sure that their communicated information is accurate. It's exactly like a reporter who is out on the field reporting on a story. They may not be creating the news, but they are reporting it, theoretically from an informed vantage point.

Imagine if a reporter reported on a story, and a day later it turned out the most important aspects of what they reported were wrong. A bunch of people get angry and complain to the reporter, now imagine if her response to their complaints was, " well if you wanted to know the story for sure you should have driven down here yourself".

While no one has the responsibility of doing the footwork for anybody else, anybody that claims to have gained certain and specific knowledge, has an unspoken but definite Duty to be accurate.
