#134958 RE: TomP1 #134954

“or uberhaupt just get any trial off the ground...”

But Tom,

Don’t you think it’s important that we don’t strive to “just get any trial off the ground...”, but rather, get a properly designed trial off the ground which is well designed to meet very specific endpoints which will prove or disprove the efficacy of our drug?

I am convinced that some of the BP’s truly do have so much money that they live the mindset: see what’s trending in the AD space (or whatever indication) and get some trial started in that area and just get on it right away - the sooner the better.

I think their fatal flaw has been the enjoyment of excess resources without the need to analyze for probable success or even know what they are working with outside the “moa du jour”. They are all chasing after this year’s design model without thinking...just racing to be first...herd mentality.

If proper panning prevents poor performance, and, plan your work and work your plan, are platitudes which carry weight...Anavex’s “tortoise” approach will, I believe, outdistance all the hares in the end.

I agree with you and your point that we need a well researched, property planned, randomized double blind placebo controlled trial large enough to be statistically significant. But, we need it when all of the elements are properly aligned for success - rather than “right this very minute.”

I’m happy for our race to be run when we are confident of breasting the tape with an Uber-strong finish...personal record...and, best finish in the field. Even tortoises can do that - slow and steady will win this race. Let’s don’t deviate off the path of proper planning.

Haste makes waste! Just look at the BP’s and all their turned ankles and trips, falls, stumbles...never even cross the line, tsk tsk tsk. Let’s avoid that at all costs?

Best,
Bio
