Just because there are disclaimers on PR's doesn't mean companies are allowed to blantly lie and mislead the investing public via PR.

If VSRI has no contact what so ever with Eli Lily James would still be subject to litigation for fraud and stock manipulation.

And companies are large as Eli Lily has entire functions that monitor where their name shows up in the public sphere, if this were false Eli Lily would make James retract the statement noting that there is no association between the entities.

Large companies will not allow companies to issue fake PR's associating themselves with Eli Lily potentially harming their reputation.
