Investors are liquidating positions held according to their respective institutional rules involving participation in various indices. At the same time, others are taking positions as per their rules of participation requiring indexing.
While it doesn't suggest there'll be a wash with one side canceling out the other, it will explain at least part of what we're seeing.
In the end I'm expecting we'll see a nice enough uptick as should be expected when we jump into a more coveted index.
