No, most BG cafes are just a cafe with some board games... They are not the complete package with Game Gurus, retail store, gourmet food, bar (open till the AM), etc.
They have increased their cover over the years and still pack the tables... which could be a huge advantage in expensive cities like New York. They can charge a couple more dollar per person to offset higher rent, taxes, etc. People in these cities are acclimated to paying higher costs for everything.
Being able to charge a cover is a significant advantage. Most places cant pull it off... but entertainment isn't Free!...
Its still cheaper and more social than a Movie theater... Big cites are hurting for places like this. People are always looking for new things to do with friends/family.
