I dont think they will buy, just like Saddam did not, they already have more money than they need. Arafat has received about 4 billion in last ten years from western sources and untold billions from iran/Iraq and saudi arabia etc. just think of all the money for guns bombs and ammunition and madrassas that could have been spent on birth control and "reparations".
There is even natural gas being pumped off the coast of Gaza, owned by the "palestinians". And cell phone companies operated by palestinians (oops I forgot they are occupied!, this cant be true)
you are talking about a society that has been taught to dream about revenge and honor killings, while those in political control send their families off to live in France. If you feel good about killing your mother or your sister, and you come from a society that depends on the demonization of non moslems so you can feel good about yourself, then will money help? It will probably help those that would like to join the world civiization, but not the others that prefer life as a street gang.
If you like or dont like statistics, did you ever wonder what happened to the Christians living in the west bank. there were a lot in 1945. Not many now. They are refugees too. Will the "palestinians" pay them reparations also?
by the way the "other side" doesnt have any numbers that exist prior to about 1998, its just hatred spewing forth and belieived by people who never read things before 1956. I actually read some newspapers from 1948 onward. Unless all western newspapers were a lie in 1946 to 1954, all the refugee stuff is just kark. Sources even claim that the arabic newspapers of the time even admit it. The real problem is that the people who were refugees did not have a state or political group. Palestinian statehood was declared by the UN, but the state was invaded by the Arab armies who did not want it to exist, just like they did not want Israel to exist. Unlike every other situation I can think of, its the only group of refugees that were actually from no where and had armies from other nations supposedly fighting for them and then these same armies were negotiating a settlement and they chose to continue the war instead of signing a peace treaty. Saudi Arabi and lebanon and syria are still at war with Israel from a time when there were no refugees. And refugees never got to negotiate in 1948, they just became jordanian. And they could not even go back to their homes in Egypt and lebanon and jordan and iraq. The UN took care of this: If they went home they lost their refugee status and free food.
How come there is no world outcry for the 300 million chinese who fled china in 1945 46 because of Mao and had all their property stolen etc etc.
I am afraid there is no answer except birth contol for the refugee camps, illegalization of guns, and wholesale assasination of everyone in a terrorist group if they chose to start a civil war instead of stopping. It is the exact opposite of breed as many people as you can, get as many guns as possible, and fight to destroy israel and retain political power in the west bank and gaza no matter who says anything.
