The exact controls of amyloid deposit and removal are not well understood. There may be several mechanisms (reaction sequences) and controlling molecules in the process.
But (for those of us with small, well-considered AVXL positions), this knowledge gap is inconsequential. There is now substantial evidence that, in whatever manner, Anavex 2-73 is able to re-arrange neuron chemistries so that normal function is restored.
Beta-amyloid may have an important antioxidant role in nerves. But when produced in excess (loss of homeostatic feedback mechanisms), the substance clearly becomes toxic.
It may be pathogenic to rid the neuron or nerve of all beta-amyloid. For health, we just want it in normal concentrations. Anavex 2-73 facilitates that.
