#127807 RE: Triple9 #127789

Cheapskate shooter drives out to his regular lunch place, not to eat, but to get the recipe for his favorite enchiladas.

That's weird. But the only experience he had running from the law was his father's, really. And I should think it's harder to do nowadays than it was in the late 60s and 70s, what with security cameras everywhere, and people with cellphones as well.

I wonder why he thought he even had a chance. As one of the cops said last night, there're only three possible outcomes for a mass shooter: he dies in a hail of gunfire, he kills himself, or he escapes and is quickly caught by the authorities. I doubt Paddock was thinking clearly. After all, he checked into the hotel in his own name. He was caught by security cameras a number of times. Where could he have gone? Among other things, at 6'4", he'd have stood out in a crowd.

How could he even have got out of the hotel? The first thing the Mandalay Bay did was lock the place down. I was watching the coverage from very early on; perhaps from just after it happened. And the lockdown was already in place, for the Mandalay Bay and other hotels. Nobody was being allowed out.

Probably he'd run through his desired scenario many times in his head. But even far more benign scenarios don't usually play out exactly as one might wish.
