I'm optimistic about LQMT and believe that the OH will bring good news. That being said, I don't share your enthusiasm for Apple. You make some valid point, but with all due respect, I believe that you have Apple's business model backwards.

First, I don't think that Apple really cares about their investment in LQMT. If LQMT doesn't thrive, then their $20 million investment is a loser, but so what. $20 million is only 0.008% of their cash on hand. Stated another way, if you had a million dollars cash would you be very upset losing $80. Now, I've also read on this board speculation that Apple has invested 100's of millions of dollars in developing BMG technology. If true, that is a substantial investment. But, why would Apple then let its competitors be the beneficiaries of that investment?

Second, with regard to wireless charging, the iPhone 8 is already compatible with the Qi standard. It is rumored that the iPhone X will have a proprietary wireless charging system. IMHO, Apple goes with proprietary components/systems for several reasons: (1) they believe that they are superior; and (2) they make money by licensing the proprietary technology to vendors that make the Apple accessories; and (3) the more money that you have invested in Apple accessories (that aren't compatible with non-Apple products) the more stuck you are in the Apple eco-system.

Third, as far as consumers being bored and lack of competition, Apple's business model has been to have closed eco-systems since Apple's inception. If consumers don't like it, too bad.

I'm just saying that IMHO Apple doesn't have a reason to give Li permission to use CIP technology in consumer electronics.
