Of course they look into all factors. When u want to decide if a drug is safe or not u have to check benefit vs bad. If u have only the bad or only the benefit u can't decide . Need both

What Dror meant is that DSMC knows how the treated and control arms are performing indirectly, since, by doing a safety review, they must understand if any deaths are related to Avastin or the combo.

But, again, that is not like doing a formal efficacy analysis, and you cannot stop a trial early if you do not do an interim efficacy analysis. They would need to do statistical analysis to recommend early stop , which is not immediate and it takes time and they are not doing it now. It is not just looking at who is dying and why
