Gary Berthold is a failed man. (Update #13)

As in the case with most of us, things didn't work out exactly the way he wanted. There was a string of failed businesses stretching back to 1982 involving a variety of endeavors ranging from landscaping to pet shops. No one would find fault for trying to make an honest living. But then, at age 57 with only a few years and few career options remaining, he entered the public arena with penny stock manipulators. Gary had little experience with pinkies or with public companies.

He relied on advice from nefarious characters and he made the choices that cemented his reputation. He willingly and publicly traded away his integrity. He did so by dealing with characters such as Dan Ryan, Dino Paolucci Jr., Manny Shulman, Scott Wilding and Anthony Mellone. He did so by gagging the transfer agent to mask dilution. He did so by not disclosing the terms and ownership of the preferred stock. He did so by issuing misleading press releases. He did so by not providing timely accountings as promised in an Initial Disclosure to the investors from whom he accepted money. And he did so by diluting the ever-living crap out of PHMB.

Gary will be remembered after this company too is long gone.
