So a cardiologist has no problem with OTC Omega 3 -

Yo Kiwi,

The impression I got was that the basis of the approval of OV EPA 500 was at least in part, your very similar lab results... ?

I'll defer to a real MD opinion, but if R-I is successful and Vascepa has FDA label for treatment of CVD on the basis of the R-I trial, then drs & insurance companies would substitute OTC DS for patients with diseases that are specified on the label? Is that what you are saying?

Ralphey Thx for responding to my post

Yes I agree to some extent re insurance coverage .
Some patients will always want FDA approved drugs vs DS alternatives ....for obvious reasons
We may end up with a two tiered system ...$100 a month co pay for Vascepa or buy the closest DS alternative for $66 a month

Re fluctuations in TG numbers . Looking at my Kaiser records

8/8/13 TG at 118 ...either on Plus EPA thx to JL or Vascepa
4/1/14 TG at 139 ...now on Vascepa
9/26/16 TG at 175 .......on Omegia Via EPA 500 .............so numbers going in wrong direction ...either EPA or Omegia Via EPA 500 doesn't work

3/20/17 ....TG now back down to 116 ...still on Omegia Via EPA 500 but added Zetia .

Now the 9/26 /16 number was not only bad for TG's ...it was also bad for LDL , despite max dose Crestor ...one of the reasons Zetia was added .

Point is ...numbers can move around a lot . Don't give up cos you just see a bad lipid panel or two AND consider adding Zetia for your CAD diabetic / pre diabetic patients .

Thx for contributing your experiences to the board
