Re big reductions in TG's

Vascepa lowers my TGs by about 33% ....from 210 to 140
Omegia Via EPA 500 lowers my TG's about 30 %

I've had lipid panels run on both

Does this matter so much if your LDL has been dropped 50% on a high intensity Statin like Crestor or Lipitor ...both of which are now generic ....to an LDL level of between 70-80 ?

I think ..not so much ...but the anti statinista's will surely disagree

"if he is a dr. and is seeing people's TG data"

Marine trial: 229 patients, TG lowered by 33%.
Anchor trial: 702 patients, TG lowered by 22%.

But according to an anonymous 'doctor', V "does not lower TG very well and is rather dismal."

As JL has noted several times dosage is paramount regarding the usage of V. Too little not much effect. Bump it to at least 4g and stay consistent now you have an effective drug. Outside of cost I don't understand why anyone would not be taking 4g even then the benefits outweigh the cost IMO. Oh and I smell a rat or two scurrying amongst us die hard longs again.. Must be time to buy.

Hey, I for one can attest that Vascepa has lowered my trigs. I was prescribed V in Jan 2016, at that point my tri's were 337. My Ha1c level was 6.5 and I was well on my way to becoming diabetic. Fast forward a mere 3 months and my tri's were at 78, and ha1c was at a 5. My initial weight was 196 in Jan 2016. I have maintained a weight at 180 give or take two pounds (depending on my carb intake on any certain day) for a year and 8 months. My prescribing doctor was not thrilled to write a "fish oil" script in Jan of 2016. I went in for a regular checkup in July 2017 and he could not say enough good things about what he is seeing in his practice. I was blown away about how his mind has changed in a year and a half. I have another blood panel coming up in October and will post results. Hope this helps.

I'm one of the folks who did not start V for high TG's, although I qualified for the MARINE indication - my TGs are all over the place every time I get them measured, but diet in the 48 hrs before blood is drawn can have a huge effect on TG levels, overwhelms whatever your "normal" TG levels might be while taking V. Try eating sweet corn a day or so before your blood test - you will be shocked at how high your TGs shoot up! I take V for it's anti-inflammatory properties, and that data is not (much) effected by temporary changes in diet, and V has given me fantastic results there, many of them known CVD risk factors - wonder if ralphey ever measures those biomarkers? I think he'd have a different view of V's "efficacy" if he did - it's not about lowering TGs.
