It wasn't just $504k. That was my confusion also. It was for several million with the final $504k in installment payments.

Nobody walks away from a business that is making money.

Yes, they do. Every day. I have three clients currently trying to sell their businesses or some part. There are lots of reasons people would like to do this from normal retirement to health to reaping the rewards of their labor to burnout (yes, even in profitable situations, sometimes people just don't want to do it any more) to change of focus.

There are a whole class of people who are firestarters. They like the challenge of getting something started then move on to the next project. They are actually bad as long-term CEO's because they tend to break things trying to start the next fire.

The nice people (a couple) who owned and sold Big Red were elderly and ready to retire from the trucking business. They made plenty of money from it through the years and were more than happy and ready to just walk away from it and move on with their no stress retirement by getting a fair enough final sales price without a lot of bickering. They didn't lose out on anything from their perspective. Steve simply found a great deal at the right time which worked out good for everyone involved. :-)

Big Red will continue to produce and add good revenues now for Bulova Technologies Group, Inc... It just changed ownership hands. Simple as that. Got to appreciate those blessings when they come along! :-)

Blessings and best wishes,

Also Big Red actually sold for $1,232,000. There was also a $728,000 bank loan obligation that $BTGI financed and paid for in addition to the $504,000 cash deal to the prior owners. :-)

Blessings and best wishes,

Could it be someone got the company thru inheritance and did not want to run it? Could it be a relative sell? Could it be a friend sell? Could it be they are dying and didn't need a lot of money?

So many reasons!

NO CONSPIRACY THEORY needed.
