A country like India which doesn't enforce pharmaceutical and medical equipment patents will certainly see much lower prices for knee implants.

A firm like Johnson and Johnson could see their total profit grow tremendously selling knees for $852 rather than $3,895 as it greatly expands the market for the product in India - or they could say no and let Doctor Reddy or some other firm make and sell them and take their Indian market.

But the problem won't stop at India's borders.
