Nah, plenty of studies show investors cut their losses at the very worst time, near market bottoms. There ARE academic studies on that.

One of Buffett's huge strengths is that BRK always remains fairly fully invested and doesn't try to out-think Mr Market (which only penny players can do)

My discipline lies mostly in keeping my mitts off my portfolio. That's hard to do sometimes. But it pays off.
