Yep I would've registered half of those. I'm sure I would've sold them long before they were worth several million apiece though. That's how I console myself anyway.

Now that I think about it it might have been closer to 1995ish. My then step-dad had a thriving business brokering heavy equipment rentals and sales, putting buyers and sellers together across the country (sometimes the world). There were maybe three monthly trade magazines that they used to do that (like the local autos-for-sale rags you can still find). I tried to convince him to build a simple web page that could be updated daily with images of the equipment available, etc, instead of waiting for the monthly mag. It would have been eBay probably five years before there was an eBay. He just couldn't wrap his head around it.
