Heck, I think we still all had dialup back in 1990. I don't think cable modems were introduced until 1993.

LOL!! In 1990, the very few people with online access were using modems whose speed was measured in bauds. They were communicating--very, very slowly--with Usenet groups. Next came 14.4K modems and then 28K, which was standard for several years. Then in 1997, 56K modems were introduced.

For people who wanted more speed, there was T-something, but it had to be wired into your house. Contractors talked about building whole communities equipped with it, but I don't think much ever came of that, because cable modems arrived in the late 90s...
