I am very aware of the "Annals"...I'm sure you would a agree it is an organ for the establishment...You, of course, follow the establishment like most PCs, Internists or Cardiologists..Statins are the standard...
I am not saying statins are useless or dangerous..Merely pointing out a lot of the information about statins is manufactured by individuals who have a vested interest and are sponsored, receive grant money from the ones who make statins..This has been going on for a long time..
Do you dispute the fact that the risk factors in patients who are prescribed statins vary considerably...or that high doses of statins might be more apt to produce unpleasant side effects than low doses..(the article even states that.)
As a clinician I understand how it is in most cases easier to go along with the herd and in some cases down right dangerous not to...But that does not excuse you from using your own mind and common sense...
