I haven't been able to find the Cleveland Research study online to see their methodology but advertisers being "encouraged" by TWTR's ad platform doesn't appear to equate to them preferring TWTR over its larger competitors. Along with the uptick in Q1 MAU's (some of which were porn bots that don't click ads) came a downturn in ad revs which means TWTR is brokering worse deals to get these advertisers. This also indicates that TWTR's vid streaming initiative isn't as fruitful as hoped. I mean, lots of car buyers may be encouraged by Fiat's changes to their cars but ultimately buy a more reliable Toyota. So if you were an advertiser, what would you pay and who would you prefer for ad reach... TWTR with its 400M MAU's or FB's 2B users?
