As Congress turns to "tax reform" featuring the Border Adjustment Corporate Income Tax, the stocks of all importers are going to get hit badly.

'Tax Reform' is going to be a huge free-for-all fight with those legislators backing tax reform earning powerful enemies which will hurt their chance of reelection. The winning corporations won't have much reason to be financially supportive of the hapless legislators after the 'reform' is law.

And indeed, there's no recalcitrant 'tea party' or other rebels in Putin's United Russia Party. United Russia MP's who haven't followed Putin's voting directives have been beaten-up or found dead in mysterious car accidents or poisonings. So far Trump has been too timid to follow Putin's lead to strong leadership but there's still 3.5 years left for him to step-up his game.

Opposition MPs can vote against Putin's initiatives without consequence, but those who have decided to run for President against Putin have at a minimum been imprisoned and any oligarchs who support them charged with tax fraud.

Perhaps AMZN will take over everything in retail? I'm not convinced. Both HD and LOW are good stores where you can get things for a project and also advice on how to do it. Not everyone will be in the market for building materials shipped to your door from Amazon. Still, the online thing for shopping has exceeded the wildest expectations of most of us. The biggest question in my mind is when does the FTC step in and say no more? I don't think that is a possiblity with Lowes and Home Depot.
Of course I could be wrong in this, just as my father was back in the 1950s. He didn't think a store that sold fifteen cent hamburgers could compete with a sit down restaurant where a waitress served you your food on real china with knives and forks and a cloth napkin.

This is a typical same-vendor comparison, selling on Amazon with free Prime shipping vs their own website with shipping. $8.99 on Amazon vs $10.49 direct from the vendor.

Some vendors have free shipping with a total purchase of $125 or more, making their website cheaper than their offering on Amazon if you need a lot of something from that one vendor.

If I were not an Amazon Prime Member I'd have to buy $49 to get free shipping. But this is a lower minimum than at most retailer's websites and you could combine the items from many vendors in that order to get free shipping.
