Either this or EVs will need to have extremely powerful accumulators for long distance driving. Or maybe both?

Same here Art...these Teslas might be fine for cruising around town with your nose in the air but the more I learn, the less impressed I am. There's the limited range issue, the comparative lengthy time to refuel/recharge on long distance trips (hours vs minutes), the very high cost of replacement batteries ($30K by some accounts) & some really oddball problems like this one:
Until they fix these noteworthy problems, I think a much more practical idea is to get a E/gas hybrid....in the meantime, I'm just fine with my 4Runner ;)
