I think letting the shorted stock get delisted in the ultimate plan of the shorts. Not having to buy to cover changes tax on the profits. I may be wrong, but if it goes BK and delisted I think tax is 0 in the USA.

5 cents to zero is a 100% return. $30 to zero is a 100% return as well.

$SUNEQ is getting cancelled so there won't be a need to cover.
