It is simply beyond my ability to comprehend that whomever is running the show would make the possibly carreer destroying move of allowing any activity that has the potential of disrupting an emergency landing of the space shuttle to occur within 50 miles of the place. I don't care if there is the capability to test strats, conduct aircraft carrier landings, send in paratroops, and train the infantry all at the same time NOTHING else is going to be happening when that shuttle comes in, NOTHING.

Yes, the tethered testing (from everything that I remember) will be taking place in Palmdale. Events at Edwards should have nothing to do with initial testing.

I'd imagine we'll eventually see a taxi test just like the one we saw from Lockheed back in February.
