re:They should have kept completely quiet about pricing even to OEMS and just fed them in on launch from about $300 upwards, exactly like AMD did with X2s ;-). They would not have osborned existing P4 sales to the extent they have as noone would have know what price to expect and certainly not cheaper to current and they still would have sold all the Core 2s they made without handing over excessive margins to resellers.
Maybe, but it sure put a permanent lid on AMD's pricing, and thus profits/revenues. That should hold the fort until Intel really gets going with Core 2 Duo marketing and manufacturing, which will be very soon.
