Based on recent SE US electric rates, the cost of charging an electric energy equivalent of a gallon of gasoline is $.60. It is there from a financial view.

Plus, most electric utilities now are piloting the use of storage to manage their peak demand at substations. But it is still very tiny. The really big deal is using storage with wind and solar. Most in the industry expect storage to be just as big as wind is today. Very disruptive together.
