this RSI logic seems wrong to me.
looking at the chart pattern in the post
i see SPY avg RSI descending while SPY rises for most of 2016.
there were minor drops when RSI got below 50
but those drops are also apparent in the april & may (last week) dips of 2017?

what am i missing?
