But for sure we have a contract that we cannot fill.

I think the realists view would include the word "today" at the end of that sentence. It is not a huge leap to say they will find that the existing reeler made adjustments or that they have someone that is able to reel with less waste. But wow indeed. Had we had cocoons produced ahead of time, or had they sent quadruple the amount they thought they would need, or you fill in any additional variables you can think of..... I think it can realistically be said it can happen a second time around. The penalty is the disappointment you feel in not making the goal the first time, and additional dilution for the delay. There were no contractual penalties. Not getting money in hand is not a penalty. If this fails there will be no limits on where we can produce DS. Accepting this contract may force KBLB to produce in the US. I see forced US production as a limitation. I will wait to see how it plays out.

It is almost like some think I do not feel the pain of the recent miss. I do. I simply know the game is not over and it won't be over if they miss the second time either. If I can play the part of the apologist again, it was not a total failure. It depends on what you want to dwell on. You can look at pics of thread and say this is certainly doable.... or you can keep looking at past failures. This should not be interpreted that I do not think there are lessons to be learned. " I will point out that this "apologist" was the first to ask if there were other partners that might need to have cocoons in their hands. But people will focus where they focus. I am moving on, realizing that advice to prepare oneself for failures on roads untraveled, could very well be ignored. I am not a know it all and I don't think anyone is....so I understand when met with the short term failures of others.

I truly believe it was management

Yes I hear you.

It just isn't ok in my mind and would not have happened if I was in Kim's position.

If you had given me a detailed prediction, or expressed reservations ahead of time, it would be much more acceptable. Now it is finger pointing. Hopefully this is understandable and reasonable.

But for sure we have a contract that we cannot fill. Wow.

I'm not understanding this line. Why won't we be able to honor the Army contract? Because we don't have Vietnam?? DS will be made if we get the contract in Indiana.

As of all this being Kim's fault. I don't see it. Yes the buck stops with him and any mishap he will have to fall on the sword but if you send your product to a professional reeler and they screw it up how are you to know. They obviously got the first batch made. We will never know why the second batch didn't come out correctly. So they explained it to the Army, they gave them an extension. The Army wanted another piece added with single threads, they just sent it to them. What's the problem? I know Kim is slow. That's not going to change deal with it.

Kim is a scientist. I think that's agreeable.
Kim is not management material. That's being debated.
My opinion is he needs to hire someone who can get this done. Failures and missed time frames to numerous to count. Needs to put the pride on the shelf and delegate.
