Actually, I disagree that higher prices makes it harder to deal with price drops.

On a percentage basis, a penny move up and a penny move up and a penny move up become less and less of a percentage of a move at the higher price levels.

Whereas, at the lower levels, a penny move down and a penny move down becomes devastating.

Go figure. Two different viewpoints, but the reality is only one is right when it comes to math and logic.
