Kind of like when you refer a friend in a job situation because you have faith in the person and have faith the person has the skills to get the job done. You put your name on that person because you believe in him.
If not mistaken the contract between Dr. Sam and Nathan was 10 years so it was a long term referral. Seems to have worked because Nathan is still in Peru.
