The homeostasis (normalized function) restored by Anavex 2-73 is not and should not be regarded as a "side effect." It is the primary, desired outcome --- unlike anything else treating disfunctional neurons.

That is not what was being discussed.

In any event, homeostasis is the ability to maintain a constant internal environment in response to environmental changes. For Alzheimer's patients and other patients with certain neurological diseases, homeostasis is "lost" in very specific ways.

The idea is that Anavex triggers various cellular mechanisms (those mechanisms are what was being discussed) in ways that help restore homeostasis.
