Holein1, I would say the Amex gave them more time to prepare for the more detailed and added charges. Of course we don't know the details of the charges and probably never will. Siriuslyricher responded with a good explanation.
As far as your question: " Do you think the AMEX is waiting for something good to happen ? or bad ?....to make their job easier". My guess is as good as yours and I type to slow to respond to the comments, pro and con, I would receive, should I venture to give an opinion.
