True, but it was the Gulf of Tonkin war resolution under Johnson that changed it from "advisors" to all out war, except "don't kill any Russians" that might be in Hanoi or attack their supply ships

Actually Eisenhower first sent advisors, but for Hap, like always, you missed the point of the conversation.

I was talking about the last two American conflicts, Vietnam and Iraq.

Someone else decided to take it back a few more wars, but of course he left out the Spanish American War, the Civil War, the War for Texas Independence, The War of 1812, and the Revolutionary War.

Instead of staying on point that I was making, he wanted to broaden the discussion.

Maybe this is why most Americans have a hard time with any of today's issues, when they fail to answer a question, they go to other issues.

At least he is 86, and I will let it go that.
