True of many plants. Female put off flowers and seeds(fruit) male are fruitless and only produce pollen pods. This makes males worse than females to people with allergies. In some places mulberry are not allowed because of pollen. The fruit are just about worthless because they are too soft and don't travel well. Could make jelly and jams but I think it's best to just stick to one industry if expanding requires investment.
There are also fruitless mulberry but I don't know if silkworms eat them.
As an afterthought... if we are stripping the trees to feed worms how would it produce berries anyway?
