On March 9th, Health Minister Philpott (appropriate name) stated the government would introduce legislation to legalize/regulate mj on/before 21 June. Due to this date, the legislation is likely to be postponed in the final days of parliamentary sitting before the summer recess, which would make passage unlikely before early 2018.
As most on this board are aware, this is the same day the Emery's were arrested. The source of this info. has called various crackdown's of mj dispensaries a cat-and-mouse game because of the timeliness in which store-fronts are being shutdown after only months of being in operation.
Additionally, the medical mj industry was hit by a "scandal" after prohibited pesticides were detected on the products of two licensed med mj producers, leading to product recalls and for greater regulation by the government - if you've been following the mj industry as a whole, you might have seen this info on other boards. This source is also tracking that on March 9th, licensed grower Aurora Cannabis announced it was introducing "the cannabis industry's most comprehensive product testing disclosure process". This effort is an attempt to stay ahead of the story/power curve to limit exposure of gov. regulation.
