drv17, Excellent post/repost on how to apply effective leverage to make the new Administration aware of the benefits of our drug platform will have on health care reform. I'm copying a similar post from a couple weeks past that adds additional support to your encouragement to contact our elected Representative or Senators in Congress.

"The Perfect Storm

AVXL faithful. Medicine in America is sailing swiftly into a Perfect Storm. As most of us are aware, Paul Ryan is balancing the the removal and replacement of the ACA in one hand and the budget in the other hand. Whether the ACA is replaced or restructured is a hot argument in the halls of Congress and the subject of much debate. Where there is not much conjecture is the need to rein in the projected costs of healthcare in the immediate future. Something will have to be done to insure Medicare and Medicaid will survive in light of an aging American population. This is why President Trump, as one of his first priorities, addressed the CEO's of some of the largest BIO/PHARMAs last month. The focus was starkly obvious...you get drug prices down and we'll help you speed up effective drugs to the market. And what was implied was that those drugs that will receive priority are those that treat Cancer, CNS and Cardiovascular disease. The forecast cost increases from these diseases most threaten the future viability of the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Well Anavex is certainly ready to go war on CNS and possibly cancer with a safe, effective and economical pipeline of drugs. If the Sigma 1 platform has the restorative and prophylactic capabilities we believe it has, it will bring the cost of per unit of treatment down but, will also be wildly financially successful through the millions/billions of people who will take the drugs. Add in the drastically reduced care costs and we have the lead off hitter in the 21st Century Cures "All Stars" line-up.

I believe Dr. Missling and the BOD are now advocating with Secretary Price's staff and the acting FDA Commissioner for a position on the team. It may take some solid trial results this year and possibly the appointment of the new FDA Chief but, we will make the team!! "

My suggestion is for us to direct our correspondence to Speaker Ryan and the House Ways and Means Committee as the burden is directly on them to make health care work and keep Medicare/Medicaid viable in the very demanding budget arena in the coming years.
