Put your long term hold shares into a Cash Only account. Shares cannot be lent from there.

Loaned shares can only come from margin accounts. Typically when you open a margin account there is in the fine print a clause that allows your broker to loan your shares. You receive nothing for this but also have no risk.

Margin account. Your shares can be lent.

But putting a sell order on your shares does lock them up and prevent them from being borrowed.

They both can be borrowed for shorting RSII however if they were bought on Margin your broker does not need permission to lend those RSII shares as opposed to a cash account they do

Doesn't work that way. Margin account or cash account determine if shares can be lent (I forget which is which though)

Pre Quote:EVERYONE should put 60 day open sell orders for 1$ on all shares! This way your broker cannot lend your shares out to shorters !!
