I have told everybody that I believe the country as a whole has never been more ready for a form of single payer. The companies hate the current system, the employees with dependents absolutely despise it and the big insurance companies could become the administrators much like Blue Cross does with state medicaid programs in order to protect jobs. The ACA calls for employers to pay 50% of the employee premium, but does not mandate coverage for children. Any policies with 6000 deductible are like no insurance at all for most insureds.
If wages were increased to the costs of insurance, people suddenly would have more spendable income to pour back into commerce. Capitalism is only as good as the consumer base. Mere survivors are no good for the overall market place. Unfortunately, the congress persons on both sides of the isle are reluctant to take on the insurance industry. We need free thinkers in DC. The two party system blocks new fr ee thinkers upon arrival.
