loophole73 -- the Democrats have not been the problem -- Obama wanted a public option -- and Hillary's proposed approach and the Democratic platform's would have taken us in the direction of single-payer -- entirely apart from the exchanges and the Medicaid expansion, the ACA, for all, got rid of pre-exiting condition exclusions (including the pre-existing condition of being a female) and payment caps -- and so forth

the Democrats have of course been influenced by the private health insurance industry -- but the Republicans are and long have been the one and only utterly and grinningly captive party of that industry

Loop, another great post from someone that actually understands the system and that it is non-sustainable in it's present form. Like Trump said, nobody knew how complicated this health insurance thing is. Definitely agree with somehow we need a single payer system. The rest of the world, free and otherwise has already figured this out. Until we in the US realize that individual healthcare for life is a right for every citizen and a top priority for our government we are gonna be saddled with these enormous health costs.
