IMO Wave should have been more pro-active in correcting this misleading PR. They should have initiated a correction immediately upon reading it. Doing so would have given Wave an opportunity to clarify the confusion while maintaining their credibility. Not doing so left chance to work, and look what happended. I am dissapointed in Wave for that. Shifting full blame to a the reporter is not warranted, IMO.
