I agree with you on all of that about making money trading shares as you ride the waves at whatever price you choose. What I was referring to was that at this specific time, the SP of $5.67 and MC of $232 million really have no bearing as to what AVXL should really be valued at from the perspective of a BP Suitor coming in and making a buyout offer early rather than later. The poster I was replying to thought that both would need to be much higher before BP would pay that much for a buyout. I don't see the correlation. AVXL's real value is related to the immense potential of the many ailments it could possibly treat down the road. Missling seems almost giddy about it. He knows much more than we do. We DO need something concrete, proven and undeniable to get started though. The Rett Syndrome Clinical Trial results will probably be the first "start to finish" results we will be able to see. The $$$ clock starts then, IMHO.

I wish I could hold and not look at the stock price for 5 years. Come back and see how much it is in 2022!

For some it is to side step psychological carnage. Remember the 'Doctor' investor here with the 'phantom limb' of lost paper profits? If one sees one's stake in AVXL as 'money' then by all means trade it.
However, if one sees AVXL as 'prime limited availability real estate' one MIGHT want to wait for further development of that 'Real Estate.'
