What he was actually saying and what he did on the campaign trail was not even having to be polite anymore.

Yes. He doesn't care about civility. And I think this appeals, frankly, to people who aren't very bright. I've seen it here on IHub. They can't articulate a cogent argument, and so they become frustrated and attack the messenger. They aren't necessarily bad people; they may be kind and generous with friends and neighbors.

But too often when discussing politics (or penny stocks) they're reduced to "I hate XYZ"...
