CDEX (and its predecessor LOCH), another failed chemical detection pennyscam very much like MYDX, eventually did exactly that - FINALLY they paid a ton of munny to a LEGIT scientist as a CONsultant. He couldn't make the garbage prop work either, butt he was happy to take their munny!!

I'm shure if MYDX was willing to pay enuff, it could find sumbuddy willing to sell their name as a CONsultant, because it's easy to omit CONsultancies from one's CV and LinkedIn history and walk away with the cash for doing nothing butt being a prop for the prop.
