I keep coming back to the question of why did they simplify the corporate structure last year. The only answer that makes sense is to make the company an easier acquisition target, any other suggestions?

No insider buying noted, that would an even better signal with what we already know.

Velcro, since it's been nearly a year, I do not recall if
they said they definitely had a commercial customer, or if they were talking with a prospective one.

I was thinking/wondering buyout too, and it seems IBM needs a shot in the arm and a chance to diversify, yet in keeping with their traditional offerings for products and services. It would seem a good fit and this sort of monitoring and sensing technology is doubtless only going to become more widely applied going forward. We'll have such technology in our homes telling us that it's time to start shopping for a new refrigerator, heating system or garage door, soon enough.

I was thinking along the lines of using this technology for Windmill farms, oil refineries, water desalination and perhaps even infrastructure/rail systems. Who knows, but the sky is the limit and IBM deep pockets could ensure a steady stream of R&D funding.
